Lumen Bloom

I had always wanted to make kaleidoscopes that could be enjoyed my a group as typically they are very individual experiences. Awe inspiring moments are much more impactful when enjoying them with others. In the latter end of 2023 I played around with optical lenses, mirrors and light sources to hone in on how to make this a reality.

This is the second iteration of the kaleidoscope projection system that I've dubbed Lumen Bloom. Since the first iteration I have focused on improving the exterior aesthetics and brightness of the projected image. I have added a heat sink and a couple fans to help with cooling the LED so that I can drive it with more power. I have also added a rechargeable battery so that it can be used outside without an available outlet. For the next iteration I would like it to have the option for AC power so that it can run all night.

The interior mechanisms have stayed mostly the same and are explained in the writeup of the first iteration.
